[캄보디아 여행] 부쓰라 폭포(Bousra Waterfall)

몸과 마음을 씻어낼 수 있는 그곳!
몬돌끼리는 캄보디아 북동부에 있는 산악지대로 베트남과 국경을 맞대고 있다. 면적상으로는 캄보디아에서 가장 크며 전체 인구의 80%가 소수민족으로서 소수민족 인구가 두 번째로 많은 주이기도 하다. 이곳은 1년 내내 선선한 날씨(아침저녁에는 싸늘한 날씨)가 유지되기 때문에 피서를 하기에 안성맞춤인 곳이다.

캄보디아 몬돌끼리주 중심타운인 센모노롬에서 붉은 흙길을 타고 43km 정도 달리면 몬돌끼리에서 가장 아름답다는 폭포 ‘부쓰라’를 볼 수 있다. 부쓰라 폭포는 총 3단으로 나뉘어 있는데 사진 속의 이 폭포는 높이 10여 미터에 폭이 15미터 정도가 되는 부쓰라 폭포 중 첫 번째 폭포이다. 두 번째 폭포는 폭 20m에 높이 15~20m로 더 큰 규모이며 첫 번째 폭포로부터 150m 지점에 위치해 있다. 세 번째 폭포는 가장 유속이 빠르고 웅장한 것으로 알려져 있지만 밀림 속에 파묻혀 있어 접근이 어렵다.

푸른 하늘과 어우러진 폭포의 절경을 보며 시원한 낙수 소리를 듣고 있노라면 일상생활에서 시달린 몸과 마음이 깨끗이 정화되는 듯한 느낌을 받을 수 있다. 이곳은 관광지로 유명해서 찾아오는 사람도 많아 가족이나 연인이 여기저기 모여앉아 다정하게 담소를 나누기도 하고 개구쟁이 아이들은 물에 뛰어들어 물장난을 즐기곤 한다.

또한 몬돌끼리에 가면 소수민족 프농족을 만나볼 수 있다. 코끼리를 잘 다루는 민족으로 알려진 프농족은 밀림, 산악지대에 적응해서 생활하고 있다. 이들의 전통의상과 천으로 엮어 만든 머리띠와 목걸이, 귀고리 등의 장식품이 인상적이다. 몬돌끼리가 너무 멀다면 시엠립의 민속촌에서 실시하는 무용 공연을 통해 프농족의 특징과 생활상을 엿볼 수 있다. / 글 정인휴, 사진 Jamie Yoo
